Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are of much concern as they are small, biting, and blood-sucking pests that can easily hitchhike in the luggage and clothing of travelers around the world. Reported cases of bed bugs are abundant in larger cities across the US, but bed bugs are also a concern to Sawyer County as many tourists and travelers visit the area every year. Adult bed bugs are small (less than 3/8”) and reddish to brown colored. They are most active at night when they come out to bite into and feed off of the blood from humans and animals. They are typically found in the seems and folds of clothing, bed sheets and other fabrics, in luggage and backpacks, and in mattresses and other furniture. The bite marks caused by bed bugs can cause itching, inflammation, irritated and abraded skin, allergic reactions, and susceptibility to other infections.
