Sawyer County Bike & Pedestrian Trail


2nd Street - Chippewa Trail & Chippewa Trail - County Road K


1.25 miles
Brushing on this project was completed in the early part of January and February 2016. The actual construction of the trail will take place sometime after spring thaw. Sawyer County forces will be allowed to complete the majority of the work on this project. The bicycle/pedestrian trail will start at 2nd Street where the existing trail ends. It will continue on 2nd Street to Hall of Fame Drive. It will continue on Hall of Fame drive to County Road B. The trail will be located on the north side of County Road B. It will continue along County Road B to the intersection of Chippewa Trail. Chippewa Trail will then be signed as a bicycle/pedestrian route. At the other end of Chippewa Trail the project will continue on to the intersection of County Road K, remaining on the north side of County Road B. The trail will be 10 feet in width and will be asphalt. This project is currently scheduled to be the first job the highway department works on after spring thaw.

County Road NN


Green Lake Road - Indian Trail


2.0 miles
Project consists of pulverizing the existing pavement, replacing all cross drain culvert pipes, adding additional gravel, placement of 3.5 inches of warm mix asphalt pavement with 3 foot gravel shoulders. The road will be open for travel with only minor delays expected.

County Road F


Little Sissabagama Road - Chapel Road


1.48 miles
Project consists of pulverizing the existing pavement, replacing all cross drain culvert pipes, adding additional gravel, placement of 3.5 inches of warm mix asphalt pavement with 3 foot gravel shoulders. The road will be open for travel with only minor delays expected.

County Road F

Sissabagama Road - Strand Road


1.35 miles
Project consists of pulverizing existing blacktop, replacing all cross drain culvert pipes, adding additional gravel, minor ditch and slope work, and placing 3.5 inches of warm mix asphalt pavement with 3 foot gravel shoulders. The road will be open for travel with only minor delays expected.

County Road F


Strand Road - STH 27/70


3.89 miles
This project was let to bid this spring and the bid was awarded to James Peterson and Sons of Medford WI. The project will consist of pulverizing existing pavement, replacing all cross drain culvert pipes, minor areas of ditch and slope work, adding additional gravel, placement of 3.5 inches of warm mix asphalt with 4 foot paved asphalt shoulders and 1 foot gravel shoulders. The road will be closed to through traffic during construction. A signed detour will not be provided but there are several alternate routes near the project limits. Local access will be required to be maintained.

County Road S


Moose Lake Road - Pine Point Road


2.68 miles
The majority of this project will consist of pulverizing the existing roadway and placement of a 3.5 inches hot mix asphalt surface. There will also be a portion of the project that will be reconstructed (slope and ditch work). The road will be open for travel with only minor delays expected during the paving process. This project is not scheduled to begin until sometime in August 2016. This project is funded under the Forest Lands Access Program and Sawyer County forces are prohibited from working on the project due to law changes. This project will be let to bid to the lowest responsible bidder.
